Q: How does one prepare for Lincoln Center Summer for the City or Governors Island Jazz Party? A: For Lincoln Centers free dance events, learn the basics in 4-styles of dance from Swing to Salsa to Hustle and add in a mixture of Ballroom. In 5 lessons you can be well prepared for having the time of your life on the dance floor. For more information about the event:Lincoln Center Summer for the City.
B. For the Governor's Island Jazz Age Lawn Party, you will want to learn Peabody, and 20's Charleston moves. This can take you as little as 2 lessons or as many as 5 depending on your learning style. For more information about the event: Governor's Island Jazz Age Lawn Party . Q: We are a couple getting married soon and would love to learn a dance routine for our favorite song. How many sessions would we need? A: You ARE in complete control of how many lessons you might need to master the dance. If budget sensitive, you can minimize the number of lessons needed by practicing in between sessions. You'll have all the videos you need on your phone. If you practice, you can nail even a complex routine in as little as 5 sessions. If for any reason (you completely forgot to schedule a dance lesson, or your work schedule is 80 hours a week) you have time for only 1 or 2 lessons, do not worry, I promise to ensure that you enjoy the journey that will allow you to look natural and confidant on the dance floor.
. Q: What do I need to bring with me for a dance lesson? That is a loaded question. If it is for your first lesson, then dress comfortably (work clothes or other). If it is raining outside bring another pair of shoes or dry socks. If you are learning to dance for exercise and plan to sweat, bring another shirt to change into, a towel to wipe your brow and a water bottle. If you are learning to dance for a special occasion: Bring in your shoes that you will be dancing in or something similar and this goes for both women and men. Ladies, if you are in pants bring/wear a skirt or dress. Men bring/wear a jacket, so you understand what it feels like when moving your arms - limitations etc.
. Q: How long does it take to get proficient at a dance? That answer depends on each person's individual nature and reason behind taking lessons to begin with. If you are an overthinker it might take you longer than someone who understands the idea of movement. If you are someone that continually says "I can't" well then you are doing yourself a disservice and I will help teach you how to get out of your own way. Within a lesson or possibly two, I can tell you how long it will take for you as the individual will feel good about your dancing. It comes in waves and when you learn to love the process as much as I do, the frustrations will be a tiny blip.
Q: In order to have detailed information about your services who do I contact? A: The best way to get accurate information about your customized lesson plan - including budget - is to click on the link below that reads "Book your Consultation Now".
Q: Where are the lessons held? A: In Manhattan, in a beautifully maintained ballroom studio in Midtown or in a private space {extra costs} - ask for details.
Every person is unique. Our work together is one where I listen to your wants and desired outcome of the dance... It is your time after all.
